Made using a traditional recipe from the South of France, our Olive Emulsion is a light fluid cream that is cleansing, soothing, and nourishing.
Known in France as Liniment oléo-calcaire, it is made with only three ingredients:
- pure water
- cold-pressed olive oil
- calcium hydroxide, also known as slaked lime
It has many skin benefits and is gentle enough for a newborn.
It is wonderful on dry and sensitive skin: use it as an after-sun lotion, to prevent nappy rash, face cleansing, body massage oil, etc.

The Cape Soap Co. Olive Emulsion’s cooling properties make it an ideal after-sun lotion.
Its soothing and healing properties also relieve irritations and itchiness due to dry skin or eczema.
Its olive oil base is softening and rich in antioxidants, vitamins and polyphenols, making it an efficient face-cleanser, make-up remover, shaving cream, moisturising lotion, and body massage oil.
It can reduce stretch marks and relieve cracked nipples, amongst other benefits.
In France, Liniment oléo-calcaire is commonly used to prevent nappy rash. Usable from birth, it is also cloth-diaper safe.
The Cape Soap Co. Olive Emulsion gently cleanses the baby’s bottom, neutralises the acidic pH of urine, and leaves a protective film preventing irritations and redness. It also effectively removes the baby cradle cap: only a few applications are needed.
It can also be used to polish leather sofas and wooden furniture.
HOW TO USE:
For external use only.
Shake well before each use.
Apply generously on dry skin using clean fingers, a cotton pad, or a clean washable terry cloth.

FOR BABY’s NAPPY CHANGE:
- To prevent nappy rash, use a gentle soap for the baby’s wash routine, avoid industrial wipes, and pat dry gently and thoroughly to remove excess moisture and minimise the risk of maceration.
- Apply a generous amount of the Cape Soap Co.’s Olive Emulsion on a cotton pad or clean washable terry cloth for baby’s diaper change, and wipe baby’s bottom, ensuring that you wipe from front to back to avoid bringing bacteria to the urethra. No rinsing is necessary.
FOR FACE-CLEANSING:
- Using clean hands, spread your Olive Emulsion over the face. Take the opportunity to give a deep pressure massage for a minute or so. Lifts dirt, make-up, and sunscreen.
- Wipe with a gentle clean cloth.
- Repeat until the skin is clean.
- You might want to rinse with water depending on your or your baby’s skin type. First, massage as described, then soak a clean facecloth in warm water, ring it out, and press it into the face for a few moments. Next, use a facecloth to remove the oil from the face using circular motions moving out towards the hairline. Repeat if necessary.
AS A MOISTURISER OR MASSAGE OIL ON THE FACE OR BODY:
- Apply on dry skin and massage in with your fingers.
- Depending on you or your baby’s skin type, leave it on for the skin to absorb, gently wipe it with a soft pad, or rinse it off with a clean cloth soaked in warm water.
FOR SHAVING OR SIMPLY EXTRA SILKY SMOOTHNESS:
- Apply under the shower, shave if needed, and pat dry gently.
