Please avoid waste: look after your products!
All Cape Soap products are best stored in an environment that is:
- cool,
- dark,
- dry,
- clean,
and with a clear label.
Because olive oil is one of the main ingredients we use in our skincare products, and we do not add any preservatives, it is best to keep your Olive Emulsion and Olive & Honey Balm away from heat and direct sunlight. Indeed, heat and direct sunlight will quickly lower the quality of olive oil.
Artisan soaps, particularly cold-processed soaps, are naturally softer than industrial soaps and must be cared for with a bit more love. Drying your Cape Soap bars between uses will make them last longer. (Try using our Soap Holder, and alternate between soap bars).
Soda Ash will absorb ambient water. Although the powder would then hardens and form blocks, it doesn’t affect its efficiency once dissolved. However, it makes it difficult to use as one has to break the blocks formed to get the desired quantities. It is, therefore, strongly advised to keep your Soda Ash dry and store it away from humidity. And because Soda Ash can be irritant, it is also important to ensure your container is clearly labelled.
Our Washing Powder contains Soda Ash and Cape Soap bars’ off-cuts, and the above also applies to it.
We encourage you to wash your hands before using our Olive & Honey Balm: this will limit contamination of the product from dirt on your fingers and extend its life.
Although Vinegar is non-toxic and has a very recognisable odour, we recommend that you label your vinegar solutions.
Look after your Soap Holder: from time to time, scrub it clean, let it dry thoroughly, and add a protective layer by rubbing natural beeswax and/or olive oil into it with a soft cloth. (Try using a dash of our Olive & Honey Balm.)
