Our Story
I am Caroline, founder of The Cape Soap Co.
I am a hiker. I love walking for days in nature, with everything I need in my backpack and around me: I am a tiny being on this Earth, yet I belong there. When I am home, I want to hold on to those feelings, to tread lightly and durably, harmoniously and joyfully.
I got interested in making skincare and home hygiene products a few years ago because I wanted to understand what I was putting on my skin and around my house and to limit the amount of single-use plastic in my recycling bin. Little did I realize, at the time, the rabbit hole I had entered!
I spent months exploring the world of natural products, zero-waste lifestyle, and much more. Finally, I came out of it with what became The Cape Soap Co.’s guiding principle:
the drive to design a range as genuinely essential and kind to people and the planet as possible.

We intend to embody sustainable business design, paying great attention to our choices’ impact on our communities and our environment, in every aspect of our work: from resources extraction all the way to waste disposal – and beyond.
Our goal is to minimise our negative impact, increase our positive impact, improve quality of life and create opportunities.
This reflects in our choices: of ingredients, processes, type and number of products, packaging, distribution, marketing, etc.

Being conscious producers and consumers is not enough.
We want to be – and encourage you to be – active citizens.
We will be investing our available time, money and energy to learn and activate change towards a desirable future, in particular in those fields most related to our daily work i.e. for a healthy, safe, and clean environment:
- essential hygiene and wellness (health)
- environmental education (NB: it’s connected)
- regenerative agriculture, and fair employment practices (particularly as far as local olive farming is concerned)
- biodiversity (locally, and with a special focus on bees)
- considerations on the impact of limestone and salt mining (and of the chlor-alkali industry)
